This summer, MinnPost asked readers to take our reader survey. 1,518 people completed the survey, and we’d like to share some of our findings.

The majority of respondents are engaged MinnPost readers with the majority being subscribers to at least one of MinnPost’s seven newsletter products. 85% of folks who took the survey have been reading MinnPost for 2 years or more, with 16% who have been reading us for over 10 years!

Almost 90% of respondents shared that they are satisfied or very satisfied with us — thank you!

The majority of respondents turn to MinnPost to stay informed about what’s happening in Minnesota. We also learned that our readers really love their news. Most readers check the news (MinnPost or otherwise) at least once a day.

MinnPost readers have a diverse news diet and rely on a lot of other local news organizations like MPR and the Minnesota Star Tribune to get their news, and over 70% of respondents say they pay or donate to other news organizations, both locally and nationally.

We also learned that readers are very politically engaged, with all but 9 people reporting that they have voted in the last four years.

We enjoyed reading the other thoughts folks shared about MinnPost. Here are a few of our favorites:

“I look forward to your newsletter every day. It’s my taste of back home.”

“Your choices for topics are relevant and I think your reporters are actual ethical trained researchers who take their job seriously seeking the truth. I also find their opinions entertaining and it is clear when they are only opinions.”

“MinnPost is essential in my News arsenal. Your reporters are excellent and the information gathered from other News sources around the state provides a good overview and understanding of what’s important.”

“I appreciate the in-depth coverage and quality of the writing.”

Thanks to everyone who took the survey — we appreciated the feedback and learning more about our readers.
