The Star Tribune’s Jeff Day reports: “Touting it as a first-in-the-nation initiative, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty’s office launched a prosecutor-led application process for people looking to have their juvenile criminal records expunged. Moriarty said her office was primarily examining juvenile misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors and some ‘low-level felonies like drug or property cases.’”

Also from the Star Tribune, Stephen Montemayor reports: “Two long-haul truckers, with the backing of a legal nonprofit that has argued multiple U.S. Supreme Court cases, are suing Minnesota over the state’s refusal to recognize more than half of the firearm permits issued by other states.”

MPR’s Estelle Timar-Wilcox reports: “A Minneapolis man is charged with stealing $7.3 million in a Medicaid fraud scheme.

“Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison filed charges in Hennepin County this week. They allege 46-year-old Chavis Willis billed Medicaid through his company, 1-0 Granny’s Helpful Hands, for services it did not actually provide.”

KTTC’s Ryan Paris reports: “The city of Canton has a new mayor following Joshua Nordsving’s resignation.

“Former City Council member Kristy Ziegler is now taking the reins as Canton’s new mayor, which means there is now an opening for Ziegler’s old position on the city council.” Nordsving resigned following allegations of child abuse.

Peter Passi at the Duluth News Tribune reports: “The results of an independent investigation into the activities of Mayor Roger Reinert and Amber Gurske, a former campaign manager who became his significant other, were released Thursday morning.

“The report refutes suggestions that Gurske may have overstepped her authority in helping to orchestrate the first-term mayor’s schedule and assist him with messaging.”

Taylor Rivera at WCCO radio reports: “After 60 years, the Uptown Art Fair is no more. At least how it ran for the majority of those six decades. It will now be replaced by a new event dubbed the SoMi Art Fair and will take place at Bachman’s in South Minneapolis.”
