MinnPost is now sharing the complete results of our 2024 Minnesota poll, a survey of political and economic questions Embold Research asked likely Minnesota voters the first week of September.
You can dive into the crosstabs here.
The poll shed light on the current state politics and issues from the perspective of Minnesotans. Statewide, respondents narrowly chose Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris over Republican Donald Trump, 49% to 45%. These numbers changed as you focus on different areas of the state, however: Minneapolis and St. Paul residents chose Harris over Trump by a larger margin — 73% to 21%, respectively — while people living outside the seven-county Twin Cities metro area chose Trump by a 28-point margin.
Concerning this year’s Senate race, the poll showed Minnesotans choosing candidates along party lines, with Democrats supporting incumbent Amy Klobuchar and Republicans by and large picking challenger Royce White. However, a larger percentage (5%) of Republicans were unsure, and another 5% of Republicans said they would vote for Klobuchar.
The poll also asked what issues are concerning Minnesotans the most. The biggest problems respondents chose largely fell along party lines, with Democrats most concerned about receding access to abortion rights and gun violence, while Republican respondents listed as their top issues the rising costs of recurring purchases like food and gas and illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border.
This first poll surveyed 1,616 likely voters from Sept. 4-8 and has a margin of error of +/- 2.8 percentage points. MinnPost and Embold Research will team up again in October to conduct a second poll before the Election Day on Nov. 5.
